“Forty years after the first Earth Day, the world is in greater peril than ever. While climate change is the greatest challenge of our time, it also presents the greatest opportunity – an unprecedented opportunity to build a healthy, prosperous, clean energy economy now and for the future.” EARTH DAY NETWORK
A few months ago, I was invited to watch a DVD of a short made-for-the-internet film called, “The Story of Stuff”, created by Anne Leonard. She tracks the life of the “stuff” we use every day: how it is produced, distributed, and consumed, and where it goes when we throw it out.
Much of what we see in the video is already common knowledge; but upon seeing it, we just might want to make more concrete changes in our efforts to make our environment a “greener” place. This “must-see” video is instructive, energizing, at times humorous and definitely challenging. It can be found at: http://www.storyofstuff.com/ This story is now also in book form.
I’d be very interested in hearing your comments.

That was a wonderful thought provoking article and it really made me think of the number of products I buy that yes they do end up adding to the pollution of our earth. I loved the part about the $4.99 radio and how and why it got made so cheaply….It will fall apart and than the consumer will be out and purchasing another and the old just adding to the pollution..so true. Imagine only six months after buying something only one percent having the article.
What are we doing and what are we going to do about it? For myself it will be stop and think….Do I really need this?.....Thanks …It was great.
Thanks for the great blog for earth day. We had a special prayer this morning and there is a special prayer event in Lima,Peru tonight.
I enjoyed hearing the author speak about her book. We have used her video here with the associates.
